How To: Change the Date and Time of Your Post

Hey jammers! Popcorn here C:

Today's topic is one not known by many, but can prove useful in many cases.

I'll give you an example: say you've got loads of free time, and your schedule tells you that you need to publish a post tomorrow. You've got a great idea for one, and you're like "let me just write it now!" So you write it, and finish it. But you also have to put out a post today. So you write the post for today, and publish that one now. Change day to tomorrow. It's now tomorrow, and you are just about to publish your post. As you publish it, you see that the post appears behind the post you published yesterday because you wrote it on the same day, but the first one being written earlier.

That's what I end up doing a lot, and if you're like me, knowing this tip is very helpful.

Let's get started!

Where is the Date and Time?

You can find and edit the date and time here:

How to Edit D&T

1. Go to your Blogger Dashboard and click on the post that you would like to edit

2. Next, click on the highlighted dropdown in the picture above. You should come up with a screen like this:

3. Now you can freely edit the date and time! *Notice: you can't set a date in the future. For example, if it's March 2nd at 4:00 p.m., you can't set a post's date to March 2nd at 6:00 p.m.

Editing the Date - You can either manually type the date you would like in the first underlined section, or you can use the calendar to select a date. It doesn't matter which one you choose to use; they'll both get you the same result.

Editing the Time - You can set the time by going to the 2nd underlined box above the big calendar. Enter your time, and you're good to go!

And that's all you have to do! If you'd like to publish it, go right ahead! If you'd like to save it for a later time, just click the left grey arrow above your title and you will return to your Blogger Dashboard.

I hope this tutorial helped, and if you have any requests for future posts, make sure you visit the "Requests" tab below the title!

Thanks for reading and happy blogging!

How To: Add Labels to a Post

Hey jammers! Popcorn here :P

This post was one requested by Dogo, and I feel is a simple yet good-to-know piece when it comes to Blogger and organizing your posts!

Let's get started!

What are Labels?

Labels are little tags, if you will. They can be used to organize post categories, find similar topics in all your posts, etc. On an editor's screen, they look like this when you are adding them:

On a viewer's screen, they appear at the bottom of a post like this:

How to Add Labels (2 Methods)

First Method

1. Go to your Blogger Dashboard and hit "New Post" at the top left of your screen (or click an unpublished post if you would like to edit that one instead)

2. Add your text, images, whatever to your post!

3. Look to the right white sidebar under the orange "Publish" button. The first "section" says "Labels" and if you haven't added any Labels yet, it should say "Separate labels by commas" in a light grey font and "No matching suggestions" under that.

4. Add your label! If your post is about the RIM today, I recommend putting just "RIM" or "Rare Item Monday". Labels are only supposed to be keywords from your post. "This post has the weekly RIM" is not a good label.

5. Make sure you separate your labels with commas!

Do: RIM, Animal Jam, Fun or RIM,Animal Jam,Fun

Don't: RIMAnimalJamFun or RIM Animal Jam Fun

Blogger will assume that labels without commas at the end are all the same word!

6. When you've finished entering your labels, click "Publish" to Publish your post!

Second Method

1. Once you've completely finished writing your post, click the little left arrow above your post title to go back to your Blogger Dashboard

2. Now look at one of the "rectangle previews" of your post that you would like to add labels to. Click on the little tag next to the paper airplane icon! (Ignore the pink square in this picture)

3. Follow the same procedures for step 4 and 5 in Method 1 and click "Apply"!

Now you have labels! Sorry if this post is a little rushed; I had a short window of time until my class, and I just decided to write it now! :)

Thanks for reading and happy blogging!

How To: Add Pages (Tabs) to Your Blog

Hey jammers! Quick and easy post today, but it's still a very important topic for bloggers.

Let's get right into the post!

What Are Pages?

Pages are basically posts that you can add more information to. Pages are commonly used for guides, AJ codes, etc. Jammers also add them as tabs which can usually be found under the jammer's header/title.

How to Make Pages

1. First, go to your Blogger Dashboard and look at the left sidebar

2. Next, click on "Pages" which is under the "Earnings" tab

3. To add a new page, click "New Page" where you would usually see "New Post" in the top left corner

4. Write whatever you'd like in the page and hit "Publish" when you're done!

5. Now, go back to looking at your left sidebar on your Blogger Dashboard

6. Click "Layout" (directly under the Pages tab)

7. Go to your sidebar(s) and click in blue lettering "Add a Gadget"

8. Scroll down until you see the "Pages" gadget, and click on the little blue plus sign next to it

9. To add the page you just worked on, make sure the box is checked next to your page's title (as shown in the picture) If you would like to rearrange your page order, click on the little dot grid next to where it says "Page List" and drag your page to it's new spot. Once everything is done, click "Save".

10. As you can see, right now your pages are on the side of your blog. We need them under the title. To do that, just simply find the dotted grid on the left side of the Page gadget you just added, and drag that to the box under your title. The box might say "Cross Column" or "Cross Column 2". If you see that, then drag your Page gadget there.

Bam! Now you have page tabs :)

I hope this tutorial helped!

Thanks for reading and happy blogging!

Adding a Custom Cursor! *Repost (Requested by Vai!)

Hey jammers! This one was an interesting one, but I realized it's really fun to have a custom cursor/mouse! Here's how to do it:

1. Click this link: Custom Cursors 4 U

2. Next, select the one you want. There are hundreds to choose from, so see which one matches your blog the best!

3. Now, when you select your cursor scroll down until you see "Option #1 - Universal CCS/HTML Code" and then copy the text underneath.

4. Next, go back to your blog and click "Theme". Go to your theme and then click the down arrow next to "Customize".

5. Then click "Edit HTML"

6. A whole bunch of letters and numbers should pop up. To get where you want, hold down "Ctrl F" if you're on a windows desktop or "Cmmd F" for Macbooks. Then search ]]></b:skin> into the search bar until it comes up in highlighted yellow.

7. Now paste your code from the cursor website right before the ]]></b:skin> OR the b:skin<> code. (Click on the picture to make it bigger)

7 1/2. Here is what the code should look like once it's pasted, with an orange b:skin (if you still have the Cmmd F tab up) and your 2-3 lines of cursor code right above it.

8. Click "Save" in the top right corner and you're cursor should now appear! (If it hasn't shown up, try reloading the page)

Thanks for reading and I hope this helps for your blog! Happy blogging!

Adding a Favicon!

Hey jammers! Before we get into the post, I'm so sorry for the unexpected leave. I have been more focused on school and my main blog (Animal Jam Daily) that I kind of abandoned this one :(

I think what I'm going to do is this: I'll post occasionally but probably one every week or two weeks?

But anyways, that was just a quick apology and I'll try to get back to posting on here again :)

Onto the topic of today's post: customizing your Favicon! Do you see the little box on your tab next to the page title your on?

That is a favicon, and today I'll show you how to customize yours! Let's get right into the post!

1. First, pick the image you would like to add to your blog! For example, if you're an Animal Jam newspaper blog, why not add the Jamma Journal logo? All of these icons and more are perfect for favicon's and you can find them in these 2 wonderful blogs: Animal Jam Archives and Animal Jam Graphic Central

2. Next, you'll need to edit your picture so it fits the favicon requirements (a square image and less then 100 kb) To do that, go to Free Online Image Editor. Here's a tutorial on how to use that --->

---

Editing with Free Online Image Editor

1. To upload an image, scroll down a big until you a dark pink button that says "Choose Image".

2. Once your image is pulled up, you should see this screen.

If your image is already square, skip these steps. If not, please continue reading.

1. To check if your image is square, click "Resize" on the top toolbar. If the width and the height numbers match up, then your image is square! In this case, mine is not.

2. Do you see the little box under the width and height that says "Aspect Ratio"? If the box is checked, it means that the height and width will stay the same distance apart no matter how much bigger you make it. To adjust the height and width freely, make sure the checked box is not blue and check marked.

Back to the image editor tutorial...

3. Now that you're image is square, it's time to resize it! When you're resizing, make sure your image is less then 60x60. Otherwise, it probably won't upload.

4. Finally, save your image by clicking "Save" in the left toolbar and then "Save Image Local". Save the image to your files, and you're good to go!

---

Where to Upload Your Favicon

1. First, go to Settings in the left sidebar of your Blogger Dashboard.

2. Now, click on the blue link that says "Favicon".

3. Upload the image your resized and you're done! I hope you love your new favicon!

I hope this tutorial helped you with your future/current AJ blog! Thanks for reading and happy blogging!

Hey jammers! Popcorn here, and for today's post I'm going to be showing you how to add music to your blog! (Specifically on the sidebar) I love listening to music while I read or write a post, so I thought that it would be cool if readers could enjoy the same experience that I have!

Stick around if you want to learn how!

Adding Music from YouTube

1. First, go to YouTube and find the music you want to import to your blog.

2. Then, when you find your video, click "Share."

3. The first option you should see says "Embed" (A1). Click it and copy the whole text! (A2)

4. Go back to your blog and select "Layout" on the left sidebar.

5. Click "Add a Gadget" on one of your blog's sidebars and press the "HTML/JavaScript" option.

6. Paste your text into the box! And you're done!

But wait! Why is the video so large? WHAT DO I DOOOOO

Well my friends, that's easily fixable.

1. Go back to the "HTML/JavaScript" gadget. Find "width" and "height" in the beginning of the text.

2. This part you kind of just have to play around with. Currently mine is set to about 150 width and 200 height! But every blog is different, so just experiment :

Adding Music From Soundcloud

1. Like with the YouTube tutorial, go to Soundcloud and find the audio you want to embed!

2. Click on the title of the audio, and you should see this screen. Click "Share".

3. After you click Share, there will be 2 tabs. Share will have a couple of options, but you want to go the second tab titled "Embed".

4. Copy the line that says "code".

5. Now go back to your blog, and click "Layout" on the left sidebar.

6. On Layout, click "Add a Gadget" on the sidebar and then the "HTML/JavaScript" gadget.

7. Paste the "Code" from Soundcloud into the text box.

ANNND you're done!

If the same problem happens with the size of the video, scroll up to the YouTube portion and look for how to resize it :)

Hope this helps with your future or present blog! Thanks for reading and happy blogging!
